Remembering Costa Rica

As I am preparing for the end of the term and upcoming paper due dates are looming and we are logistically preparing for our move to Portland, I keep finding myself day dreaming about Costa Rica. I keep reflecting on the country's mantra of "pura vida", and how americanized I have become since my return. There is rarely time for siestas or even leisurely meals.

Pura vida = the pure life

However it is not limited to just that meaning. It can also be a response to any questions, like "como le va?" and you can respond, "muy pura vida". In essence, it is way of life.

With all the upcoming changes in my life, I am looking forward to incorporating this mantra back into my life. I am ready for a change of pace. Already I am anticipating the beauty of Costa Rica. I can't wait to see monos, tomar the café, relajar on the beaches and nadar in the warm salty oceans.

More on the preparations for the trip to come!

This photo is from our vacation to the Osa Peninsula with my parents in March 2006 when we visited an animal sanctuary.
